Cowboy Cross Country Finishes Second at Big 12 Championships

LUBBOCK, Texas (OSU Athletics ) Â The Oklahoma State men's cross country team finished second at the Big 12 Championships today, falling just 14 points short of defending champion Colorado.

Junior Ryan Vail continued his outstanding season, leading the way as the top Cowboy performer and finishing third overall. Chirchir finished eighth overall in a time of 25:02, and freshman Sean Fleming had a strong showing in his postseason debut, finishing 10th with a time of 25:04.
“I was really proud of the way our guys stepped up to the challenge today, especially Chirchir and Jankowski,” Vail said. “Personally, I would have liked to finish in the top two, but I felt as a team we ran as well as we could.”
Senior David Jankowski (25:08) and junior Matt Barnes-Smith (25:11) rounded out the scoring, finishing 12th and 15th, respectively. Sophomore Daniel Watts (25:35) finished 25th, and senior Brian Ehlis (26:07) came in 41st.
“I was really impressed with Chirchir and Fleming,” Smith said. “It was the first postseason for both of those guys and to have them finish as the top two newcomers is great.”
