Cowgirl Softball Picks up Win in Final Fall Home Game

The Cowgirls scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning, one off a double by freshman Amanda Crabtree and two more on an error by third-baseman Sasha Unruh.
OSU added six runs in the fourth, including two each on a double by Katelyn Bright and a two-bagger by Sam Heinlein. There were six hits in the inning as the Cowgirls batted around.
Head coach Rich Wieligman used all three pitchers evenly in the game, with Crabtree earning the start. The Kingwood, Texas, native threw four scoreless innings, scattering four hits while striking out seven.
Freshman Sarah Odom entered the circle to start the fifth inning and gave up just two hits, both in her first inning. After a double by Nikki Kramer with two outs, Odom faced the minimum of 10 batters. Sophomore Anna Whiddon came on in the ninth inning and had six strikeouts while allowing just one hit.
Offensively, freshman Alysia Hamilton went 2-for-3 while fellow freshman Mariah Gearhart was 2-for-4. Nine different Cowgirls scored in the game.
Oklahoma State will conclude the fall season this weekend as the Cowgirls travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the Arkansas Fall Invitational. OSU will play Missouri State at 11 a.m., Arkansas at 1 p.m. and Rogers State at 5 p.m.
