2006-2007 OSU Student-Athlete Academic Highlights
- OSU had 17 recipients for the 2006 Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar Award for student-athletes of color excelling in the classroom, community, and athletics. This led the nation in 2006!
- In Spring 2006, 35 student-athletes earned President's Honor Roll (4.0 GPA) and 52 made Dean's Honor Roll (3.5-3.99)
- In Fall 2006, 39 student-athletes earned President's Honor Roll and an OSU record 72 student-athletes earned Dean's Honor Roll
- OSU had a record breaking year with 24 Student-Athletes earning Academic All-American/Scholar-Athlete status in 2006
- 101 OSU student-athletes made the 2006 Academic All-Big 12 team (Broke OSU record of 97 in 2002)
- 8 OSU athletic teams were named All-Academic Team (Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country, Women's Soccer, Softball, Women's Tennis, Wrestling, Women's Track and Men's Track)
- Zack Robinson (Men's Golf) was named ESPN Academic All-American of the Year for Men's At-Large Sports in 2006. He is OSU's first ever recipient for this award.
- Zack Robinson received the Byron Nelson award given to the top male golfer who has excelled the highest in academics, community, and golf in 2006
- Zack Robinson (Men's Golf) & Lauren Colwell (Women's Soccer) received the OSU Male & Female Student-Athlete of the Year in 2006
- For the 9th consecutive year Men's Cross Country received the All-Academic Team award in 2006 (OSU team record)
- OSU Women's Soccer wins 5th straight academic team award and highest ranking ever in 2006. Soccer all claims top spot in conference with 12 Academic All-Big 12 selections.
- Yolanda Odenyo becomes first women's soccer player from OSU to win NSCAA Women's Scholar All-America Team award. She claimed first team status as well.
- OSU Women's Cross Country/Track has 35 of 47 or 75% earn 3.0 or above for Fall 2006. Cross Country also leads conference with 11 Academic Big 12 selections in 2006.
- 231 student-athletes made the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll (3.0 or above) for the Fall 2006 (up from 220 last Fall)
- 209 student-athletes made the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll (3.0 or above for the Spring 2006 (up from 205 last Spring)
- 206 Student-Athletes qualified for the OSU Academic Awards banquet in 2006
- NCAA Postgraduate recipient: Zack Robinson (Men's Golf)
- Big 12 Postgraduate recipients: Zack Robinson (Men's Golf) & Lauren Colwell (Women's Soccer)
- Darnell Smith (Football), Lauren Simmons (W-Tennis) & Destanie Sykes (Women's Basketball) were named to OSU Alumni Association's list of Outstanding Seniors for 2006
- OSU Baseball had a team record 24 student-athletes earn a 3.0 in the Spring 2006 and a 3.04 GPA also a team record for Spring. The team did not stop there with 23 earning a 3.0 GPA or higher in the Fall 2006 and a team record 3.15 GPA.
