Cowgirl Tennis Competes at Baylor Invitational

In the “A” draw of the women's singles play, Cowgirls Yawna Allen advanced through the first two rounds before falling in the quarterfinals. OSU sophomore Nataliya Shatkovskaya fell in the first round of singles play, but rebounded to pick up two wins in the consolation bracket before falling out in round three.
Also, in the “A” draw, OSU senior Iryna Tkachenko had a rough outing. Tkachenko fell in the first round of the consolation bracket after a first-round loss to Catalina Cruz. OSU's Joanne Karaitiana, a freshman from

“This was a very tough tournament for us,” said Cowgirl head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski. “We played some very good competition. I think our girls played well at times and we learned a lot from this weekend.”
In doubles play, Karaitiana and Iryna Tkachenko picked up four straight wins to garner top honors in the “B” draw. The Cowgirl tandem of Allen and Nataliya Shatkowskaya advanced to the quarterfinals of the “A” draw before losing out.
The Cowgirls will be back in action October 17-21 in the Central Region Wilson/ITA Division I Regional Championship, hosted by the
