Oklahoma State Eases Past Baylor

Both teams, hunter and western, got of to good starts and never looked back. Each team held a record of 10-2 over the Bears (0-2) . OSU (2-0) captured complete sweeps of two disciplines, horsemanship and equitation on the flat.
Along with a having a very successful show, the Cowgirls also swept all four MVP honors. The highest score of the day way earned by freshman Erin Prutow, with an 81 in equitation over fences. OSU earned two scores in the 80s and 23 scores in the 70s.
“I was impressed and excited for out team after today,” said head coach Larry Sanchez. “We competed very well, that is all I can ask for at this point in the season.”
Junior Jordan Pickelman earned MVP honors in horsemanship with a 74.5. Helping Pickelman sweep the horsemanship category were seniors Sam Davidson and LeeAnna McNally, sophomores Ashley Koch and Suzanne Randolph, and freshman Courtney Whitacre. Four of the matches were decided by less than a point, but the Cowgirls held the advantage in all four.
Sophomore Rachell Shobe captured the MVP for the reigning discipline, defeating Baylor's Nicole McCoy, 71-66. Senior Rachell Currat, junior Jacque Roberts, and sophomore Leah Kuehn also helped the western team win with victories over Baylor.
Seniors Natalie Chappell and Bailey Mahoney led the Cowgirls to victory in the equitation over fences. Along with the seniors, junior Devon Smithburg and sophomore Jaclyn Osterstock also added victories for OSU. Freshman Erin Prutow earned the first MVP of her career by defeating Analisa Muti from Baylor, 81-72.
In the equitation on the flat the Cowgirls were lead by junior Charlotte Collingsworth, who gained the MVP with a win over Baylor's Nicole Brown, 79-76. Along with Collingsworth, seniors Michelle Woolschalger and Bailey Mahoney, juniors Sarah Summers and Sam Collingsworth, and sophomore Ally Blais helped the Cowgirls to sweep the Bears in equitation on the flat. Two of the matches were within one point, with the Cowgirls taking the advantage in each.
The Cowgirls return to action on October 27 against nationally ranked South Carolina.
