Rickie Fowler Named Big 12 Golfer of the Month

Oklahoma State freshman Rickie Fowler was named the Big 12 Golfer of the Month for tournament play through Oct. 9 it was announced today by the league office.
Fowler missed the squad's first event of the season due to competing at the U.S. Walker Cup. The youngest member of the team, he posted a 3-1 record to help the Americans win the presitgious event.
The Murrieta, Calif. native made his collegiate debut at the Ping/Golfweek Preview where he led the Cowboys to a runner-up finish by carding a fourth place score of 1-under 215.
Fowler followed up that performance at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational where he recorded his first career victory. His 7-under 203 total included a second-round 63 that matched the course record held by PGA Tour member Vijay Singh.
The honor marks the second for the month as he was also named the Southern Golf Association's National Amateur of the Month as well.
