Cowgirl Tennis Set to Open 2007 Season

Oklahoma State's 45th-ranked women's tennis team will open the 2007 dual season with a pair of matches this weekend at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa.
The Cowgirls will face Arkansas-Little Rock on Saturday at 9 a.m. The Trojans play out of the Sun Belt Conference and are coached by Tommy McDonald who is in his sixth season leading the program.
UALR is currently 3-2 on the season, notching wins against Nicholls State, Oral Roberts and Memphis. The Trojans No. 1 player is Jenna Hirdle, who is 2-2 in the spring. OSU leads the all-time series with UALR, 3-0.
On Sunday, the Cowgirls will meet No. 64 Rice at 9 a.m. The Owls are coached by Roger White, who is in fifth season with the team. The Owls play out of Conference USA.
Rice is 2-1 this season beating both Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Texas State, 7-0. The Owls fell to Baylor, 7-0. OSU leads the all-time series 5-1.
The Cowgirls return seven letter winners off last season's squad and added a talented newcomer. Head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski is in his 18th season in charge of the OSU women's program and whose 241 wins are the most in school history.
