Cowgirls Dominate RedHawks

The Oklahoma State equestrian team began the new year out strong with a win over Miami of Ohio. The Cowgirls beat the RedHawks 11 to 5. Not only did they win but received three of the four MVP awards throughout the competition.
Kicking off the show was equitation over fences. The Cowgirls won three of the four matches. Earning win were sophomore Jaclyn Osterstock, senior Paige Hortman and freshman Ally Blais. Not only did Osterstock earn a point for the Cowgirls but was named MVP for the class with her high score of 82 all on her Birthday.
Putting three more points on the board was the horsemanship class. Senior Brandi Thomas beat out her opponent by three points and was also named MVP for the class with her high score of a 75. Giving the Cowgirls the remaining two points were freshman Ashley Koch and sophomore Jordan Pickelman.
Equitation on the flat brought in two more points for the Cowgirls. Sophomore Samantha Collingsworth and junior Bailey Mahoney brought in the wins. Combing the English points, the Cowgirls beat the RedHawks 5 to 3.
The Cowgirls rode strong up until the last class of the day, reining. Putting three more points on the board were sophomore Jacque Roberts, freshman Rachell Shobe and senior Rachel Currat. Roberts earned the final MVP award for her outstanding round earning the highest score of a 75.5. Western combined points for the day beat out the RedHawks 6 to 2.
The Cowgirls hit the rode for their first away competition of the spring semester next weekend. Saturday the Cowgirls will be competing against the University of South Carolina and on Sunday they will travel to Alabama to compete against Auburn University.
