Cowboy Track and Cross Country Continues Success in Classroom
January 25, 2007 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
The Pokes posted a team GPA of 3.442 and of the 25 runners on the track and cross country roster, 22 finished the semester with a 3.00 grade point average or better. Eight Cowboys made Dean's Honor Roll (3.5-3.9 GPA) and three Cowboys made President's Honor Roll.
Joseph Gray and Michael Breshears each finished with a 4.00 GPA, however they are not candidates for President's Honor Roll because they are in Graduate School. Breshears is working toward a master's in business administration and Gray is working toward a master's in sociology/criminology.
Juniors Brian Gosnell and David Jankowski each made President's Honor Roll along with freshman Tucker Weems. Gosnell is studying Biology at OSU; Jankowski is studying Journalism and Broadcasting with a Public Relations emphasis and Weems is undecided.
Two seniors, David Pomies and David Foster, made Dean's Honor Roll. They were joined by junior Brian Ehlis, sophomores Matt Barnes-Smith, Daniel Watts and Ryan Birkholz and freshmen Peter Wood and Marshall Summa.
“We operate under the big-two theory,” said Cowboy head track coach Dick Weis. “The two most important things for our guys are school and running and this has been an exceptional semester as far as academics go. Our team GPA was above a 3.40 so our kids know that if they are below that, they are bringing the team average down.”
The Cowboys will be back in action next Saturday, February 3, at the J.D. Martin Invitational in Norman, Okla.
