The Oklahoma State equestrian team is ready to kick off the Spring 2007 season with a competition this Saturday at the Animal Science Arena against the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks. OSU enters this weekend with a 5-2 records from the fall competitions.
This weekend's competition will showcase four riders in reining, horsemanship, equitation over fences and equitation on the flat.
The reining section is put together by four well-seasoned competitors. Seniors Katie Bohr and Rachel Currat, along with sophomore Jacque Roberts and Freshman Rachel Shobe will compose a group that will be hard to beat.
Representing each year in school makes up this talented horsemanship class. Leading the pack is senior Brandi Thomas, followed by junior Samantha Davidson, sophomore Jordan Pickelman and freshman Ashley Koch.
On the English side of the competition, also representing each year in school, for the Cowgirls in equitation over fences will include senior Paige Hortman, junior Natalie Chappell, sophomore Jacqueline Osterstock and freshman Ally Blais. All four women proved to be high point scorers for the Cowgirls in the Fall 2006 season.
Equitation on the flat will be composed of a talented group that made their marks in the arena during last semester's competitions. Riding flat will be juniors Michelle Woolschlager and Bailey Mahoney, along with sophomore Samantha Collingsworth and freshman Ally Blais.
The Cowgirls are looking forward to getting back into competition mode. This weekends events are scheduled to begin at 10:00 am at the Animal Science Arena located on McElroy and Western.
