Cowboy Cross Country Team Competes at Hurricane Festival

Oklahoma State's men's cross country team competed at the University of Tulsa's Hurricane Festival on Saturday, finishing third in the team standings in what the team treated as a “preseason workout” before the actual scoring season begins on Sept 23.

Cowboy senior Joe Gray finished in ninth place to lead the Pokes. The Tacoma, Wash. native finished with a time of 20:57. Sophomore Alejandro Ruiz and freshman Daniel Watts, finished 11th and 12th, respectively. Junior Brian Ehlis and senior Mike Breshears finished 13th and 14th, respectively, while sophomore Ryan Vail rounded out the top 15.

“This was a good chance for us to get out and get in a workout at an official meet before the actual scoring season begins,” said Cowboy assistant coach Dave Smith. “Our guys went out and ran exactly how we wanted them to run.”

The University of Oklahoma finished first in the meet, Tulsa finished second and Missouri Southern finished fourth behind the Pokes.
