Two Future Cowgirls Make AQHYA Reining Finals

This past week at the American Quarter Horse Youth World Show in Fort Worth, Texas, two future Cowgirls, Rachell Shobe and Molly Tipton, made the finals in Reining.
In the Reining class alone, there were 102 riders from across the nation. The Cowgirls had five different signees competing at the AQHYA World Show this year.
Shobe, an incoming freshman from Lewiston, Idaho, placed third in Reining with a score of 216.5. In the final round, Shobe was the first rider in the arena and held on to the top-scoring round until the eighth horse did its pattern. She was out of the first-place slot by only two points and was one point out of second.
Another Cowgirl to make the finals was freshman Tipton of Bismark, N.D. In the finals, Tipton had a score of 210 giving her a 12th-place finish in the Reining class.
Sidney, Neb. native, Leah Kuehn, another incoming freshman, had a respectable ride but failed to make the finals.
The equestrian team will hold tryouts on August 22 before opening the 2006-07 campaign against TCU on October 7 in Stillwater.
