Cowgirl Golf Duo Named Scholar All-American
July 17, 2006 | Cowgirl Golf
Oklahoma State freshmen Pernilla Lindberg and Karin Kinnerud were both named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar teams, it was announced today. The Cowgirl pair were two of the 23 golfers from Big 12 teams selected.
This season marks the second-consecutive year that two OSU golfers have been named to the NGCA Scholar All-American teams. Twenty-four Cowgirls have been listed on the squad since 1985. In 2000, three Cowgirls garnered the award.
Lindberg won the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic this past season and had four-consecutive top-10 finishes in the spring. Kinnerud had her best finish at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic where she was runner-up to Lindberg. She also had the top finish by a Cowgirl at the NCAA Championships with a 38th-place outing.
The sophomores-to-be are two of five golfers that started at the NCAA Championships returning for the 2006-07 season.
