Cowgirls Out Dualed by Nebraska, 1-0

Nebraska's Jessica Yoachim singled home the game's only run in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Huskers (42-9) eliminated Oklahoma State (21-29), 1-0, from the Big 12 Championship on Friday afternoon at Hall of Fame Stadium.

Ashley DeBuhr proved to be slightly better than OSU's Jessica Hoppock as DeBuhr earned the win in a stellar pitching dual. DeBuhr allowed just two singles, one in the first inning and one in the third inning, before retiring the final 17 hitters she faced.

Hoppock was equally as dominant retiring 12 straight at one point and striking out 10 Cornhuskers on the afternoon. Hoppock only allowed five hits, three of which came in the seventh inning or later.

Following Jamie Waldecker reaching in the third inning on a fielder's choice, neither team had a base runner until DeBuhr's single in the seventh inning.

Katie Linke pinch hit for Nebraska to lead off the eighth inning and singled to center. Lizzy Aumua bunted the runner over and both runners advanced on a throwing error by catcher Courtney Totte. Yoachim delivered with a single just over the head of shortstop Lacy Darity to score the winning run.

The Cowgirls upset top-seeded Texas on the first day of the tournament, but suffered tough defeats at the hands of Oklahoma and Nebraska and were eliminated. It was the final game for seniors Lacy Darity, Ashleigh Tweed, Chelsea Caraway and Ashlyn Watson.
