Cowboys Set to Compete at Big 12 Championships
May 11, 2006 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
Going into the weekend, the Cowboys are looking to add at least one more runner to this season's list of NCAA qualifiers. Junior Ryan Ripley came within one second of becoming an NCAA Regional qualifier at this year's Stanford Invitational and the conference meet will serve as his last chance to join his five Cowboy teammates who have already qualified.
Those five runners include national qualifier David Jankowski, a sophomore form Idaho Fall, Id., and regional qualifiers senior Sean McCabe, juniors Terry Josserand and Joseph Gray as well as redshirt freshman Ryan Vail.
Ripley will be joined in the 1,500-meter run by teammates McCabe, Vail, junior David Pomies, sophomore Brian Gosnell and freshman Peter Doroshuk.
Jankowski, along with sophomore Alejandro Ruiz and freshman Daniel Watts, will represent the Pokes in the 5,000-meter run. Ruiz and Watts will also compete in the 10,000-meter run.
Joseph Gray, a junior from Tacoma, Wash., will be the lone Cowboy competing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, junior Terry Josserand will run in the 400-meter hurdles and sophomore Brian Wall will represent the Pokes in the 800-meter run.
The three-day meet is being held at Baylor's Hart-Patterson Track and Field Complex and is set to kick off at 3 p.m. on Friday.
