April 09, 2006 | Cowgirl Softball
Oklahoma State (16-19, 2-5 Big 12) lost a heartbreaker to Nebraska (27-6), 5-2 Big 12) as Crystal Carwile hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh to give the Cornhuskers a 5-4 victory on Sunday afternoon at Cowgirl Stadium.
Lauren Kitchens had an RBI single, and pinch hitter Shallan Watson plated a run with a single through the right side. Lacy Darity gave OSU its first lead with a sacrifice fly to right that scored Ashleigh Tweed. Candice Byler, making her first start of the season, came up with two runners on base and delivered an RBI single to make it 4-2.
The Cowgirls could not hold the lead as the Huskers came up with the clutch hits late in the game to rally for the victory. DeBuhr went 2-for-3 at the plate and tied the game with her double, and she threw the final four innings to earn the win in relief and improve to 14-5 on the year. Carwile went 3-for-4 at the plate with two home runs and three RBIs to lead the Huskers.
