No. 59 Cowgirl Tennis Ready for Busy Weekend

The Cowgirls (8-7, 3-3) will first host No. 54 Denver (8-9) on Friday at 11 a.m. The Pioneers are coming off a, 7-0, win against North Colorado last Saturday. Denver is lead by Monica Maksovic who is ranked No. 97 in the latest ITA rankings. This will be the first meeting between the two schools in women's tennis.
Oklahoma State will return to Big 12 action when the play Iowa State (3-9, 0-7) on Saturday at noon. Iowa State was last in action on Sunday when they were defeated by No. 62 Kansas 6-1. The Cyclones were able to win the doubles point in the match. The Cowgirls have never lost to the Cyclones and hold a 27-0 mark in the series.
The Cowgirls will wrap up the weekend on Sunday when they host No. 46 Colorado (9-6, 3-4) at 10 a.m. The Buffalos are lead in the individual rankings by Monica Milewski who is No. 99 in the latest ITA rankings. Colorado also has two players who sit atop the Big 12 win list at their respective positions. Franziska Jendrian currently has five victories in conference play which is the most at No. 5 singles. Teammate Veera Nurmi also has five wins which ties her for the conference lead at No. 4 singles. Oklahoma State holds the advantage in the all-time series 19-6 but have lost two straight to the Buffalos. Colorado lost their last match to Texas A&M 7-0.
Oklahoma State is coming off a big weekend that saw them defeat instate rival Tulsa, 5-2, and pick up a conference road win against Missouri 5-2. Oklahoma State is currently paced in wins by newcomer Marta Tsivka who has won 12 matches this season splitting time at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions. The junior's three conference victories at No. 5 singles is good for fourth place in the Big 12. Junior Lauren Simmons also has three victories at No. 3 singles which is tied for third most in the conference at that position.
