Lady Netters Pick Up Third Conference Win This Season
April 03, 2006 | Cowgirl Tennis
“It was a tough match,” said head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski. “We played indoors and our girls are not used to that. We made some mistakes but we prevailed. Missouri made it tough for us.”
Oklahoma State (8-7, 3-3) has now picked up all three of their Big 12 victories away from Stillwater, Okla. Missouri now drops to 0-6 in the conference and trails the all-time series against the Cowgirls 21-4.
The Cowgirls took an early lead after securing the doubles point for the second match in a row.
The duo of Zana Masnic and Yawna Allen continued to roll at No. 1 doubles. The tandem beat Yelena Olshanskaya and Chrissy Sevtlic 8-4. Manic and Allen improved their record to 3-0 since bumping up from the No. 2 spot.
The new tandem of Marta Tsivka and Zuzanna Osinska also remained unbeaten for the Cowgirls after defeating Val Dandik and Lubica Nadasska 8-6.
The lone loss in doubles play came at No. 2 doubles where Iryna Tkachenko and Lauren Simmons were beaten by Erika Josbena and Amanda Pratzel 8-3.
After earning the doubles point, the Cowgirls won four of the six individual matches to give the Cowgirls a 5-2 victory.
At No. 1 singles, Tkachenko won the first set but lost the next two sets to fall to Olshanskaya 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
