Cowgirl Softball Sweeps Red Raiders

The first game was all Cowgirls as they posted two runs in the fourth inning followed by back-to-back three-run frames in the fifth and sixth to open an 8-0 advantage. First baseman Kim Kaye provided the Cowgirl's biggest hit a two-run home run in the fourth over the wall in center field. Kaye and centerfielder Shanel each drove in three runs to pace the OSU offense.
The Red Raiders bounced back in the night cap, the two teams were scoreless until the top of the fifth inning when OSU was able to take a 1-0 lead on a RBI double by catcher Courtney Totte.
Texas Tech responded in the home half of the fifth when for the second time this season; the Red Raider hit back-to-back home runs. Leading off the frame, catcher Jennifer Corkin ripped a long ball beyond the outfield wall in right center field for her third long ball of the season. Moulin followed with her third hit of the twinbill, a high arching shot that cleared the fence in center field. OSU left fielder Lauren Kitchens knotted the score at 2-2 when she went deep for the fourth time this season, a solo shot off Tech starter Julie Hauck.
Both teams were held scoreless until the ninth inning when with two outs a Red Raider fielding error allowed Cowgirl second baseman Ashleigh Tweed to come to the plate, where the Mustang, Okla., native connected on her fifth home run of the season. Tech was unable to answer in the bottom of the ninth.
Oklahoma State softball will be next be in action when they host the Baylor Bears on Saturday in Stillwater, Okla., at 2 p.m.
