No. 65 Oklahoma State Downs Instate Rival Tulsa 5-2

Head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski experimented with a new doubles lineup and it worked out well as the Cowgirls (7-7) swept through doubles action.
Oklahoma State got off to a quick start when Lauren Simmons and Iryna Tkachenko, playing together for the first time this season, quickly beat Santie Delport and Thalia Diaz-Barriga, 8-3, at No. 2 doubles.
The duo of Zana Masnic and Yawna Allen played at the No. 1 position for just the second time this season and stayed unbeaten there. The tandem clinched the doubles point by beating Daniela Muscolino and Kindsay Grimes 8-6.
The Cowgirls completed the sweep when the new team of Marta Tsivka and Zuzanna Osinska edged out Tiffany Smith and Julie Westfall in a back and forth match 8-7 (2).
Oklahoma State got off to a quick start in singles play when Osinska defeated Agostina Santora, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 6 singles. The freshman is now 2-1 this season.
The Cowgirls pulled ahead 3-0 when Masnic picked up a much needed win playing at the No. 3 spot. The senior got a straight sets victory over Smith 6-1, 6-1. The win ended Masnic's personal 10 match losing streak.
The Golden Hurricanes got on the board with a victory at No. 2 singles when Delport defeated Simmons 6-1, 6-2.
The Cowgirls clinched the match at No. 1 singles when Tkachenko beat Muscolino in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
At No. 4 singles Tsivka beat Grimes, 6-2, 7-6, to earn her team leading 11th victory of the season.
The match of the day may came at the No. 5 position where Jennifer Posiktt and Diaz-Barriga battled in a grueling match. Diaz-Barriga edged out Poskitt in the first set by tiebreaker 7-5. By the time their first set was concluded all the other matches had been completed. Poskitt bounced back to win the second set 6-4. Diaz-Barriga pulled away in a third set tiebreaker, 10-5, to give Tulsa a point and make the final score 5-2.
Oklahoma State will travel to Columbia, Mo., to take on the Missouri Tigers (6-6, 0-5) on Sunday at noon.
