Western Riders Step Closer to Regional Championship

Oklahoma State scored 32 points, five points better than Texas A&M, to extend its lead to 12 points. Southern Nazarene placed third with 18 point. The high point team in the region automatically advances to the IHSA National Championships on May 4-7 in Harrisburg, Pa.
Junior Brianne Wiebe continued her strong year by winning the day's high point rider honors. Wiebe placed first in her section of Open Horsemanship and finished runner-up in her section of reining.
The Cowgirls also got strong performances from senior Karrie Kehr and junior Madison Ramirez as they took top honors in their sections of the competition.
Oklahoma State also got first place finishes from senior Laryn Burns and sophomore Lee Anna McNally in Intermediate Horsemanship and Advanced Horsemanship, respectively.
The Cowgirls will look to bring the regional championship back to Stillwater at tomorrow's regular season finale in College Station, Texas.
