Cowgirls fall to Tulsa, 3-2

Kim Kaye hit her third home run of the day, but it was not enough as Tulsa got a three-run home run in the third inning from Sara Dyer and held on to beat Oklahoma State, 3-2, in the final game of the Border War at the Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex.

Jessica Hoppock got into trouble in the third inning walking two Hurricane hitters with two outs. Cleanup hitter Sara Dyer made her pay as she cleared the bases with a home run to left centerfield.
The Cowgirls got a run back in the fifth inning when Lauren Kitchens led off the inning with a bunt single and advanced to third on a throwing error by catcher LeeAnne Pepper. Shallan Watson brought Kitchens home with a single through the left side to make the score 3-2.
The Cowgirls got a leadoff double from Ashleigh Tweed in the sixth inning. She advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt, but was stranded there as the tying run. OSU went down in order in the seventh to end the game.
Oklahoma State will resume Big 12 play when it travels to Kansas for a weekend series beginning Saturday at 2 p.m. and concludes Sunday at 1 p.m. in Lawrence, Kan.
