Cowgirl Tennis Set for Big Weekend
March 30, 2006 | Cowgirl Tennis
Oklahoma State (6-7, 2-3) will host instate rival Tulsa (8-9) on Friday at 2 p.m., at the Debois Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla. The Golden Hurricanes are coming off a 4-3 loss to Oklahoma on Wednesday. The match was scheduled for March 22, but was moved due to bad weather.
The Cowgirls lost last year's meeting at Tulsa, 6-1. However, Oklahoma State leads the all-time series 12-7, including a 6-3 advantage in Stillwater.
The Cowgirls will then travel to Columbia, Mo., on Sunday to play the Missouri Tigers (6-6, 0-5) at noon at the Green Tennis Center. The Tigers have not been in action since losing to Colorado, 7-0, on March 18. The Cowgirls hold a 20-4 advantage in the all-time series.
The Cowgirls are coming off a tough weekend that saw OSU battle illness and injury and drop decisions to No. 51 Texas A&M, 5-2, and No. 15 Texas 6-1.
The Cowgirls are lead in individual wins by newcomer Marta Tsivka. The junior has won 10 matches this season primarily at the No. 5 position. Her 3-1 mark at No. 5 singles in the conference is tied for second best in the Big 12.
