No. 62 Cowgirls Fall to No. 15 Longhorns

“The girls played well in the bad conditions,” said head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski. “Texas is a good team and even though the scores do not show it, there were a lot of close matches.”
For the second day in a row, Lubicz-Majewski had to adjust his lineup due to injury. On Saturday, Iryna Tkachenko fell ill prior to the match. On Sunday, the Cowgirls were without sophomore Yawna Allen who was hurt in her match against Texas A&M.
Oklahoma State surrendered the doubles point after losing three close matches. At No. 1 doubles,Tkachenko and Marta Tsivka were defeated by Mia Marovic and Courtney Zauft 8-6. Lauren Simmons and Zuzanna Osinska were beaten by Kelly Baritot and Kendra Strohm 8-5, at No. 2 doubles.
Zana Masnic, Allen's doubles partner, teamed with Jennifer Poskitt at No. 3 doubles. The duo had a close match but fell 8-6.
The Cowgirls lone win in singles action came by way of freshman Zuzanna Osinska. Osinska defeated Marija Milic 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 at the No. 6 position in her second career start.
At No. 1 singles, Tkachenko was defeated by Marovic 6-0, 6-3. At the No. 2 slot, Dizdar beat Masnic in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Simmons was defeated by Strohm, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 3 singles.
Tsivka and Poskitt had to each move up a spot due to Allen's injury. Tsivka was beaten by Zauft, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4 singles. Poskitt lost a close match, 6-4, 6-4, to Baritot at No. 5 singles.
The Cowgirls will next be in action on Friday when they take on instate rival Tulsa at 2 p.m. in Stillwater, Okla.
