Cowgirls Split Series with Iowa State, 9-1

OSU evened its record at 14-14 and 1-1 in Big 12 play, while
Shanel Scott reached on a throwing error in the third inning and came around to score on Kim Kaye's two-run double. It was the 100th career run for Scott who joins Jamie Foutch as the only two players in Cowgirl history with 100 runs scored.
The Cowgirls added a run in the fourth and then put the Cyclones away with four more in the fifth. Kim Kaye and Shianne Cruce had the big blows in the fifth inning connecting on back-to-back RBI doubles. Ashlyn Watson then blooped a single down the left field line to score a run and put OSU ahead 7-0.
Jessica Quade put ISU on the scoreboard with a solo home run in the sixth inning, but the Cyclones could not keep OSU down as it scored two more in the bottom of the sixth to end the game.
The Cowgirls loaded the bases with no outs and Cruce brought in a run with a bloop single before Lauren Kitchens ended the game on a sacrifice fly to left field.
Kaye and Cruce provided the thunder in the middle of the order combining to go 5-for-8 with five RBIs with three doubles.
The Cowgirls got a solid performance on the mound from Chelsey Barclay (4-5) who did not allow a run on just three hits in 4 1/3 innings of work, and Kristina Giustozzi came on to close it out to earn her first save of the season.
