Cowgirls Fall to No. 16 Northwestern, 1-0
March 19, 2006 | Cowgirl Softball
Northwestern scored in the bottom of the first inning and it would be all they would need as the Wildcats defeated
OSU (13-13) got another solid pitching performance from starter Jessica Hoppock. Hoppock (7-8) allowed just one run on four hits, while striking out seven. Courtnay Foster (9-4) was even more impressive for NU (14-6) allowing just two and striking out 10 Cowgirl hitters.
The lone run came in the bottom of the first when Tammy Williams reached on an error and scored on a single by Garland Cooper.
The Cowgirls two hits came from Shanel Scott and Ashlyn Watson. It was Scott's 10th hit in the tournament as she has gone 10-for-15 in the tournament.
OSU had gotten a runner in scoring position on just a few occasions and the game ended when Scott lined out to third, which resulted in a double play.
The Cowgirls will resume tomorrow when they take on Big 12 rival
