Cowgirls Split First Day of Hawaii Invitational

Oklahoma State's softball team split a pair of games at the Hawaii Invitational on Thursday evening falling to Longwood, 10-7, before defeating San Diego State, 1-0, in an eight-inning affair at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Complex.
Longwood jumped on OSU starter Chelsey Barclay early for six first inning runs before Kristina Giustozzi replaced her with two outs in the inning.
The Lancers were leading 7-0 when OSU made its rally. Kim Kaye drove in a run in the third inning and two more in the fourth with a two-run double. Lacy Darity and Shanel Scott also drove in runs with a single to make the score 7-5.
OSU was trailing 8-5 in the fifth inning when Lauren Kitchens led off the inning with a triple and scored on a ground ball by Shianne Cruce. Ashleigh Tweed came to the plate with a runner on base and drove her home with a double to bring the Cowgirls with in a run at 8-7.
Ryan Washington hit a two-run home run for the Lancers in the sixth inning as Longwood was able to finish off the Cowgirls.
Shanel Scott went 3-for-4 and drove in the game's only run to lead the Cowgirls past
Scott went 6-for-8 with two runs batted in to lead the Cowgirls. Scott currently leads the Cowgirls with a .386 average.
OSU will be in action late tonight against tournament host
