February 09, 2006 | Cowgirl Tennis
“The girls are excited and ready to play,” said head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski. “The girls are very optimistic.”
The Cowgirls will play UTA on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Lady Mavericks are currently 0-1 on the season after losing their opening match to No. 59-ranked Arizona, 6-1. The Cowgirls are 6-0 all time against UTA and defeated the Lady Mavericks, 5-2 last season.
On Sunday, the Cowgirls will face off against Missouri State at noon. The Lady Bears are currently 1-1 after defeating Oral Roberts and losing to Saint Louis. The Cowgirls lead the all-time series, 10-1.
“These are teams that we are used to playing,” said Lubicz-Majewski. “We always have close, tough matches with these teams.”
The Cowgirls are coming off an 8-15 season but have added experience and depth this season.
“We still are not sure about the lineup yet because we have three new girls,” said Lubicz-Majewski. “The new girls will get a chance to learn what these matches are all about.”
