English Team Finishes Runner-Up in a Shootout

Saturday's show was the first time this season the English team did not at least tie for first in the team competition. Texas A&M scored 45 points and edged out Oklahoma State by two. The two teams combined for 85 points, which set the regional record for most combined points by the top two teams. Baylor placed third with 27 points.
The good news for the Cowgirls was the Aggies were only able to gain two points on them in the race for the regional championship. Oklahoma State now leads Texas A&M by 19 points going into tomorrow's finale.
In individual results, sophomore Bailey Mahoney tied Texas A&M's Katie Henion for high point honors on Saturday. The Florida native earned two first place finishes in her sections of Open Fences and Flat. Freshman Misty Stutsman also place first in her section of Open Fences.
Overall, nine Cowgirl riders took home top honors in their competitions on Saturday. A trio of sophomores, Michelle Woolschlager, Brittany Myers and Natalie Chappell, all placed first in their sections of Fences.
Junior Erin McDonald and freshman Samantha Collingsworth chipped in by placing first in their sections of the Flat competition.
Oklahoma State also picked up a pair of wins in Walk Trot, as junior Madison Ramirez and freshman Katie Davis took the top spot in their respective sections.
Oklahoma State will try to win the regional championship at tomorrow's English finale in College Station.
