Cowgirls Handle Lady Norse in Softball Exhibition

Oklahoma State's softball team defeated Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, 13-3, in a 12-inning softball exhibition On Tuesday afternoon at Cowgirl Softball Stadium.

The Cowgirls jumped on the Lady Norse scoring five runs in the third inning thanks to back-to-back home runs by Kim Kaye and Shianne Cruce.

Kaye finished the evening going 3-for-5 with two home runs and five runs batted in to lead the OSU offense. Ashleigh Tweed, Lauren Kitchens and Chelsea Caraway all contributed three hits as well. The Cowgirls finished with 20 hits during the exhibition.

Chelsey Barclay started the game on the mound for the Cowgirls and allowed just one hit over five innings. Jessica Hoppock relieved her and pitched 5 2/3 innings of no-hit relief, while striking out.

The Cowgirls will resume action tomorrow at 4 p.m. with another exhibition against Seminole Junior College before opening up at home in the OSU Easton Classic. The Cowgirls will be in action against Wisconsin, Creighton and Texas-San Antonio.
