Cowboy Cross Country Season Recap

The Pokes, behind the leadership of senior standout Joseph Gray, overcame many costly injuries throughout the year on their way to their second-straight Midwest Regional title and their second-straight top-10 finish at the national meet.
Gray was joined in the leadership role by junior David Jankowski. Both runners played crucial roles in the success of a young Cowboy team. It featured March Cambridgeshire, England, native Daniel Watts who earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Year honors with a 13th-place finish at the conference meet.
At the Midwest Regional meet in Minneapolis, Minn., OSU finished first and Smith was named the Midwest Region Coach of the Year. Gray and Jankowski were both named to the All-Region Team.
The Cowboys also continued a long tradition of excellence in the classroom as nine OSU runners were named to the 2006 Academic All-Big 12 Team.
