Cowboys host Roadrunners
• After four-consecutive games away from Gallagher-Iba Arena, the Cowboys return to their home court for the first time in four weeks to host Texas-San Antonio.
• Saturday’s game is officially a sellout.
• Oklahoma State is 12-1 overall this season, having defeated then-No. 7 ranked Pittsburgh 95-89 in a double-overtime thriller in the Ford Center in Oklahoma City as part of the All-College Classic.
• The Roadrunners are 4-8 overall this season after falling to TCU 63-51 on Wednesday.
• OSU leads the all-time series with UTSA 3-0.
• Texas-San Antonio is coached by former Cowboy Brooks Thompson who is in his first year as a Division I head coach.
Game Rewind Highlights
• Mario Boggan scored a career-high 30 points and was named the Most Valuable Player of the All-College Classic as Oklahoma State defeated No. 7-ranked Pittsburgh 95-89 in a double-overtime thriller.
• Four other Cowboys reached double figures. JamesOn Curry scored 20 points while Terrel Harris and Kenny Cooper each scored 12. Byron Eaton scored 10 for the Pokes.
• Cooper’s 12 points matched a career high.
• Marcus Dove recorded a career-best 12 rebounds as the Cowboys outrebounded the taller Panthers 47-35.
• It was the first double-overtime win by Oklahoma State since Feb. 9, 1983, when the Cowboys outlasted Nebraska 71-63 in two overtime periods.
• The Cowboys were 32-of-38 from the free-throw line, good for 84.2 percent. Pitt was only 23-of-34 from the charity stripe, or 67.6 percent.
• It marked OSU’s first win over a top-10 opponent away from Gallagher-Iba Arena since March 12, 2005, when the Cowboys defeated No. 9 Kansas 78-75 in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City, Mo.
• Oklahoma State is now 11-8 over the past four seasons against top-10 teams.
Streak Ended
• Oklahoma State started the season perfect through the first 11 games before falling to Tennessee.
• It marked just the fifth time in school history and the first time in five years that OSU had won its first 11 games of a season.
• It marked the fourth time since Sean Sutton came to OSU in 1990 that the Cowboys had won their first 11 games.
• OSU was 20-0 to start the 1991-92 season. The Aggies of 1950-51 went 16-0 to start the year. The Cowboys were 13-0 to start the 2001-02 season and 11-0 to begin the 1997-98 year.
Cowboys Among Nation’s Best
• Oklahoma State is one of 13 teams with a record of 11-1 or better in the country.
• OSU is one of 12 12-win teams nationally. Others are Clemson (13-0), Wisconsin (13-1), UCLA and Oregon (12-0) Air Force and Butler (12-1), Illinois, Marquette, Maryland, Michigan and Michigan State (12-2).
• Oklahoma State’s 92.3 winning percentage is the fifth-best mark in the country.
20-Point Productions
• Mario Boggan scored 30 points and JamesOn Curry added 20 against Pittsburgh, giving OSU its 15th and 16th 20-point games this season.
• OSU didn’t have a 20-point performer last season until the ninth game, when Curry scored 30 points against Mercer.
• Last year, the Cowboys had two 20-point outings in their first 13 games.
• Boggan has 10 20-point games this season, while Curry has five. Terrel Harris had his first of the season with 20 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Balanced Attack
• Oklahoma State has had 55 double-figure performances in 13 games this season, an average of more than four per game.
• Mario Boggan and JamesOn Curry have both reached double figures in all 13 games.
• Freshman Obi Muonelo missed his first game of reaching double figures against Ball State. He sits at 10.
• OSU has had five double-figure scorers in six different games this season: Florida Atlantic, Sam Houston State, Missouri State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Pepperdine and Pittsburgh.
• Oklahoma State has had at least three double-figure scorers in all 13 games this season.
All-Time Series with the Roadrunners
• OSU is 3-0 all-time vs. Texas-San Antonio.
• All three meetings have been in Gallagher-Iba Arena, with the first coming on Dec. 4, 1999.
• Since then, the Cowboys have beaten UTSA by an average of just over 25 points per game.
• The largest margin of victory came in the last meeting on Dec. 3, 2003, the year of OSU’s Final Four run.
• Senior David Monds is the only current Cowboy to have played in that game (see boxscore at right).
• He scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds coming off the bench for OSU.
• For the Roadrunners, two current players saw action in that game.
• Senior Kurt Attaway started and scored six points and had four assists in 30 minutes.
• Senior Dwain Hall played 20 minutes for UTSA off the bench. He had three rebounds and two steals.
• Former Cowboy Brooks Thompson is the head coach at Texas-San Antonio.
• Thompson was a two-time All-Big Eight selection and was drafted in the first round of the 1994 NBA draft by the Orlando Magic (27th overall).
• He holds the school record for both steals in a game (eight) and a season (99).
• Texas-San Antonio is one of 79 Division I schools that Oklahoma State has played but never lost to.
Boggan Earns Big 12 POW Honors
• For the third time in four weeks, an Oklahoma State Cowboy has been named the Big 12 Conference’s men’s basketball player of the week.
• Mario Boggan was named the conference’s player of the week for the second time this season for the period ending Dec. 24.
• In two games at Tennessee and against Pittsburgh, the Durham, N.C., native averaged 25 points and 7.5 rebounds.
• He scored a career-high 30 points with a key basket in the final minute of a 95-89 double-overtime victory vs. seventh-ranked Pittsburgh. He also had nine rebounds, two assists and a steal against the Panthers.
• Earlier in the week, he had 20 points and six rebounds as OSU dropped a 79-77 decision at Tennessee.
• Boggan shot 51.5 percent (17-of-33) from the floor in the two games and was 16-of-19 (84.2 percent) from the free-throw line.
• JamesOn Curry won the Big 12 Player of the Week accolade for the period ending Dec. 4, giving the Cowboys three of the last four awards.
