Cowgirls Sign Talented Group for 2007-2008 Season

The Cowgirl equestrian program will be adding four talented girls to the roster for the 2007-08 season after the 2006 fall signing period. Three of the four will be riding English under associate head Coach Suzanne Flaig and the remaining rider will ride western under head coach Larry Sanchez.
Courtney Whitacre, an incoming freshman from Smithville, Mo., will be riding western for the Cowgirls. Whitacre adds a multitude of talent from the AQHA circuit in reining, horsemanship, trail, hunt seat equitation and showmanship to the roster.
In 2005, she was named the Reserve All-American Quarter Horse Congress Champion in trail. In 2006, from the AQHA Youth World Championships, Whitacre placed fourth in horsemanship, fifth in trail and was a finalist in showmanship. Also in 2006, Whitacre placed fourth at the All American Quarter Horse Congress NYATT in horsemanship and was third at the All American Quarter Horse Congress in horsemanship. Whitacre has been riding since the age of seven and bring many years of experience and talent to OSU.
Erin Prutow, a native of Newtown, Penn., brings seven years of experience to the English team. Within that time, she has competed in the children's hunter and advanced to the junior division. Prutow is also an accomplished swimmer for her high School, Council Rock.
Alice White, Belvue, Kan., has fourteen years of experience showing in hunter/jumper competitions. During her career, she has shown in local and “A” rated shows competing in junior hunters, children jumpers and at the training level.
Jessie Brothers has nine years of experience in the hunter/jumper arena and has shown in the Oklahoma Hunter Jumper circuits. Not only has she made her mark in Oklahoma, but Kentucky and Tennessee as well. During her ride at the Kentucky Nationals, Brothers placed third in equitation on the flat and second in Tennessee.
The equestrian team has finished the fall portion of their schedule and will next be in action when the face Miami (Ohio) on Jan. 27 at the Animal Science arena.
