Cowgirls Win two at Fall Classic

Oklahoma State's softball team won its first two games at the OSU Fall Classic at Cowgirl Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Cowgirls defeated Crowder College in their early contest, 1-0. Anna Whiddon threw 6-2/3 hitless innings, and she struck out 10. Whiddon retired the first 12 hitters she faced before walking a batter to lead off the fifth. She retired the next eight before giving up a single with two outs in the seventh.

OSU got its lone run in the second inning on an RBI double by Kati Phillips.

Crowder southpaw Megan Leonard was tough on the Cowgirl lefties. OSU only had four hits in the contest, but the one run was enough for Whiddon.

The Cowgirls followed it up with an 8-1 victory over Western Oklahoma College. OSU scored five runs in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach. The Cowgirls scored three runs off of wild pitches in the inning.

Jenna Harmison had an RBI single in the first inning. Chelsey Barclay drove in two runs with a double off the wall. Barclay and Harmison both went 2-for-3.

Barclay started the game and threw five perfect innings before giving up a leadoff walk in the sixth. Western Oklahoma loaded the bases with no outs, but Barclay limited Western to just one run.

The Cowgirls finish the day with a 6:30 p.m. game against Texas Wesleyan.
