2005-2006: During the cross country season, finished 12th at the Big 12 Championships with a time of 24:21, finished fourth at the Midwest Regional and finished 56th at the NCAA Championships. During the indoor season, Gray ran 14:15.54 in the 5,000m at the Big 12 Championships. In the outdoor season, Gray was most impressive, setting a new personal record in the 3,000m-steeplechase at the Stanford Invitational with a time of 8:47.82.
2004-2005: During the cross country season, finished 19th at the NCAA Midwest Regional and ran at the NCAA National Championships. During the indoor season, he ran the 3,000m at the Husky Classic with a time of 8:21.75, and finished 10th in the 5,000m at the Big 12 Championships with a time of 14:36.44 ... During the outdoor season, he took third in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Penn Relays with a time of 8:53.42, and finished fifth in the steeplechase at the Big 12 Championships.
Previous college experience: Member of U.S. Junior National team in the steeplechase in 2003 ... ran for University of Portland and participated in the 2003 cross country NCAA championships ... regional qualifier in track and field in 2004 for U of Portland. Gray also participated in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2003 Pan American Games.
High School: Ran the 3200m in 9:10.
Personal: Born January 20, 1984 ... son of Thomas and Donna Gray ... has one brother, Alphonso Owens ... Played basketball in high school ... Has already earned his Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and is studying criminology in grad school.
