Gary Bodony

Gary Bodony enters his first season on the coaching staff for the Cowboys. Bodony is a former collegiate distance runner from Texas Tech University where he ran for Coach Dave Smith. Bodony was a captain of his cross country team during his junior and senior seasons as well as a letterwinner. During his collegiate career, Bodony was a 12-time Academic All-Conference selection and was awarded the Highest Athlete GPA Award from Texas Tech his senior year.
After graduating in 2000, Bodony entered the United States Air Force and began a life long dream of serving his country as a military aviator. After years of intensive military flight training, Bodony received his wings from Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma. Currently, Bodony is an Officer and Pilot for the Air National Guard and has flown combat support missions during OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM.
Bodony runs competitively for the All-National Guard Running Team. In 2006, he lead his team to the Team Relay Championship at the Air Force Marathon beating over 220 teams.
Bodony, Rantoul, Ill. native, graduated from Rantoul Township High school where he lettered in 4 varsity sports.
