Tkachenko Eliminated in Semifinals of Central Region Championship

Oklahoma State junior Iryna Tkachenko, after five-straight wins, lost in the semifinal round of the 2006 Wilson/ITA Central Region Championship on Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
The day started with quarterfinal action and Tkachenko, the region's fourth seed, pulled out a clutch third-set, 6-2, to get the victory over Tulsa's Dantie Delport, the region's six seed, 6-2, 7-6 (3), 6-2. The win advanced the Ukraine native to the semifinals where she faced Arkansas' Maryori Franco.
Once again, Tkachenko found herself in a third set but this time she was on the losing end as she fell, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, to Franco. Tkachenko finishes the fall with a solid 6-2 mark, with all of her five wins coming in a row.
The 2006 Wilson/ITA Central Region Championship was the last scheduled event for the Cowgirls this fall.
