Cowgirls Open Fall with Exhibition Win

OSU hitters knocked out 22 hits, while four Cowgirl pitchers combined for 19 strikeouts.
The Cowgirls got on the board early in the first inning off an RBI single by senior Lauren Kitchens, scoring senior Shanel Scott. Kitchens led the OSU charge going 3-for-4, with a pair of two-run doubles.
Scott led the Pokes with four runs scored, while finishing the night 3-for-7 at the plate.
Senior Jessica Hoppock led four OSU pitchers as she struck out eight of the nine batters she faced.
Freshman Anna Whiddon was impressive in her Cowgirl debut after fanning five Lady Maverick batters and giving up only one hit. Seniors Randi Cook and Chelsey Barclay performed well in the circle after giving up an earned run each.
Senior Krystle Sanchez and freshman Emily Blackburn both hit two-run doubles to help the Cowgirls expand its lead with a five run seventh inning.
Also among the game highlights, junior college transfer Jenna Harmison went deep for a two-run homerun as it was a part of a Cowgirl four run eighth inning.
