Odenyo Earns Big 12 Honor

Oklahoma State freshman soccer player Yolanda Odenyo earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Week for her efforts over the weekend in the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge.

The Cowgirls earned two ties during the Big Ten/Big12 Challenge, and Odenyo was a big part of OSU's success.

Odenyo scored on a free kick from the top of the penalty area to give the Pokes an early lead against Iowa. It was OSU's only goal of the game, which would end in a 1-1 tie.

The Swedish native played solid defense against No. 25 Wisconsin to help the Cowgirls come away with another 1-1 tie against the Badgers.

Odenyo currently leads the Cowgirls in goals scored despite playing most of her minutes in the defensive backfield. She will lead the team into the McAlister's Deli South La. Shootout this weekend. OSU will open the tournament with a 5 p.m. contest against McNeese State.
