Gray Leads Cowboys in Season Opener
September 03, 2005 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
Gray finished 19th in the standings, leading six other Cowboys. Freshmen Matt Barnes-Smith and Ryan Birkholz finished 20th and 21st, respectively. Sophomores Ryan Vail and Alejandro Ruiz finished 22nd and 23rd while junior Sean McCabe finished 24th.
“We knew that this meet was very early in the year for us,” Cowboy Head Coach Dick Weis said. ”We just wanted to go to Tulsa and pace ourselves and leave without any injuries and that is exactly what we did.”
Former Cowboy Greg Rouault, running unattached, finished first in the race with a time of 19:57. Missouri State's Michael Bresheras and Jonathan Rone rounded out the top three places. Bresheras finished second and Rone finished third.
Next up, the Cowboys will host the Cowboy Jamboree at the Oklahoma State Cross Country Course on Saturday, Oct 1.
