Cowgirls win ninth game of fall

The Cowgirls (9-0-1) got on the board first when Kim Kaye hit a two-out RBI-single, which scored Kati Phillips, who had singled earlier in the inning.
After Ashleigh Tweed led off the second inning with a single, Caraway walked and Courtney Totte was hit by a pitch, Phillips came through with a two-run single to increase the lead to 3-0.
The Cowgirl offense added more runs in the bottom of the sixth when Totte hit a two-run double to left-center, which increased the Cowgirls lead to 5-1.
Pitcher Chelsey Barclay redeemed herself after struggling in Tuesday's game by giving up one run on two hits. On Tuesday, the newcomer gave up eight runs in four innings of work.
In the bottom of the eighth, OSU continued to pad the lead when Caraway hit a two-run single and Shanel Scott hit an RBI-single to help increase the lead to 9-1. The Cowgirls closed out scoring in the bottom of the 11th when Tweed hit her second RBI-single.
Reliever Jessica Hoppock was strong for the second consecutive day, giving up no runs on one hit in six innings of work. At one point, the junior struck out seven in a row.
OSU will conclude its fall schedule Saturday by participating in the OSU Cowgirl Fall Invitational.
The Cowgirls will play Western Oklahoma State College at 9 a.m., Neosho Community College at 5 p.m. and then conclude with a 7 p.m. contest against Missouri State College.
Following the 9 a.m. game, the Cowgirls will have a meet and greet with fans. This is a chance for fans of the Cowgirls to meet the team and get autographs in anticipation for the upcoming spring season. Â
