Cowgirls escape game with tie
September 21, 2005 | Cowgirl Softball
After starting pitcher Jessica Hoppock gave up one run in six innings of work, reliever Chelsey Barclay gave up eight runs in four innings, and put the Cowgirls in a bind.
But senior rightfielder Ashlyn Watson came through twice late in the game to help keep the team from losing.
In the bottom of the eighth, Watson hit a solo homer to left to cut NOC's lead to one run. Then in the 10th, Watson led off the inning with a single and later scored the tying run when Shianne Cruce hit an RBI-single  her second of the game.
The Cowgirls' offense was explosive earlier in the game when Lauren Kitchens hit an RBI-double in the second and Courtney Totte hit an two-run double in the fourth.
OSU will resume its final week of action Wednesday, when they host Connors State at 3 p.m., before playing a trio of games this weekend in the OSU Cowgirl Fall Invitational.
The Cowgirls will play Western Oklahoma State College at 9 a.m., Neosho Community College at 5 p.m. and then end the tournament at 7 p.m against Missouri State College.
Following the 9 a.m. game, the Cowgirls will have a meet and greet with fans. This is a chance for fans of the Cowgirls to meet the team and get autographs in anticipation for the upcoming spring season.
