Cowgirl softball releases schedule
September 21, 2005 | Cowgirl Softball
Before getting into conference action, the Cowgirls will play in many tournaments across the nation.
“I think it's important for us to play the best competition we can,” said coach Margaret Rebenar. “It paid its dues for us last year when we were all over the country too. We beat some good teams, which enhanced our RPI and helped us get selected for postseason play.
“So, if we don't get out there and see the big dogs, with us being a big dog facing the big dogs, it's not helping our cause.”
The Cowgirls begin the season on Feb. 10, by competing in the Campbell/Cartier Classic in San Diego, Calif, and will end the month by participating in the Palm Springs Classic on Feb. 24-26.
Less than a week later, OSU will travel to Atlanta, Ga. for the Buzz Classic (March 3-5), before ending the cross-country tour in Honolulu where the team will compete in the Hawaii Invitational, March 16-19.
As for the home portion of the schedule, the Cowgirls will play more than 15 regular season games at Cowgirl Stadium, which includes an annual Bedlam matchup with Oklahoma slated for April 5.
Included in the home schedule is the OSU Easton Classic, which will be Feb. 17-19.
“We have some good home games, and we're hosting a tournament this year with Wisconsin, University of Texas-San Antonio and Creighton,” Rebenar said. “That will be a good tournament.
“We're excited about it.”
