Cowboys Defeat Arkansas State Under a Full Moon
September 18, 2005 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - Bobby Reid threw a touchdown pass in his first career start and Oklahoma State's defense stymied Arkansas State's late scoring threats for a 20-10 victory Saturday night.
Julius Crosslin scored from the 1 to put Oklahoma State (3-0) ahead by 10, and Calvin Mickens intercepted Nick Noce's pass in the end zone in the fourth quarter to squash any hopes of a comeback.
Antonio Warren rushed for 132 yards on 22 carries to lead Arkansas State (1-2) in a sloppy game that featured 28 penalties and six turnovers.
Arkansas State outgained Oklahoma State 322 yards to 273 yards but had trouble converting inside the 20.
Leading 13-7, the Cowboys' defense held the Indians to a field goal on a fourth-quarter possession that began at the Oklahoma State 4 after Reid's fumble.
Oklahoma State drove 49 yards on the ensuing possession, capped by Crosslin's 1-yard run that made it 20-10.
Reid, a redshirt freshman who had been splitting time with sophomore Donovan Woods, was 8-of-21 passing for 148 yards. His 41-yard TD lob to Woods' brother, D'Juan Woods, made it 7-7 in the second quarter.
Donovan Woods played free safety, tackling Warren for a 2-yard loss at the Cowboys' 14 in the fourth quarter. D'Juan Woods was frequently wide open behind the Indians' defense and caught four passes for 108 yards.
Oklahoma State capitalized on two Indians fumbles for field goals and led 13-7 at halftime.
