Cowgirls defeat Carl Albert
September 14, 2005 | Cowgirl Softball
The Oklahoma State Cowgirls relied on big hits Tuesday to defeat Carl Albert Community College, 17-1, in exhibition play.
After being silenced in the first inning, the Cowgirls began the offensive barrage in the second inning when newcomer Kati Phillips hit an RBI-double, and Chelsea Caraway hit an RBI-single.
Among the game's highlights, Ashlyn Watson went deep for a three-run homer to expand the lead in the bottom of the third. The two teams played 12 innings instead of the regulation amount of seven.
The Cowgirls return to action at 3 p.m. Wednesday, when they host Cowley County.
On Saturday, the Cowgirls will be competing in the Oklahoma Shootout in Oklahoma City, before returning to Stillwater for the final week of the fall season.
