A Message from Athletic Director Harry Birdwell ...
My vision for the Oklahoma State University athletic program is that it remain among the best programs in the Big XII while improving its facilities to ensure our future competitiveness and success. Oklahoma State University has and will continue to have outstanding coaches and maintain our tradition of recruiting extraordinary student-athletes.
In order to provide the best possible facilities and programs for our fans, coaches and student-athletes, I am committed to leading an outstanding administrative team to develop new comprehensive campaign plans and corporate sponsorships, to expand our donor base of alumni and friends, and to build relationships within the community and increase the number of season ticket holders and POSSE members. I am deeply committed to the fundraising efforts that we have begun.
It is the goal of the Oklahoma State University athletic program to be a leader in gender equity. We are committed to balance in our programs, assuring competitive equality among our men's and women's programs. We will continue to explore the need for new sports to satisfy gender requirements and to expand the scope of both our men's and women's programs generally, as facility use, adequacy of funding, and staff availability permit. In keeping with goals of an excellent University, I am dedicated to the student-athletes who participate in our programs. It is our responsibility to encourage the development of character, academic success, and ethical leadership among all our student-athletes. We owe it to each to be sure that when they leave our programs they will have become better people.
Go Pokes!
