Cowgirls win OSU Fall Cowgirl Classic

The Cowgirls closed out the tournament with a doubleheader, defeating Grayson Community College, 12-9, and Eastern Oklahoma, 3-0. Earlier in the day, OSU defeated Seminole, 4-0. In all three games, the Cowgirls averaged an attendance of more than 300 fans.
Junior pitcher Jessica Hoppock started the finale, which marked her third appearance of the day. In her second start, Hoppock collected her second victory, going the distance and only giving up four hits.
Sophomore Tara Jeffrey put OSU on the board in the first with an RBI-triple, and then scored when newcomer Shallan Watson hit an RBI-single.
The Cowgirls tacked on another run in the bottom of the fourth when Lacey Darity hit a single, which scored senior Ashleigh Tweed.
In the Cowgirls' game against Grayson Community College, OSU got off to a hot start, scoring five runs in the first and second innings, respectively, but simmered down and won, 12-9.
The offensive outburst was highlighted by a two-run homer by Courtney Totte in the top of the first and a two-run double by newcomer Shallan Watson.
Defensively, Chelsea Barclay got the start for the Cowgirls, giving up nine runs in five innings of work, but Jessica Hoppock relieved the newcomer to earn the save.
In the first game of the day, Hoppock guided the Cowgirls to a 4-0 victory, by one hitting Seminole. Kelsie Gilmore hit a single in the top of the sixth to end the no-hit bid.
Offensively, junior Shianne Cruce scored two runs for OSU, while Tweed scored once and hit an RBI single.
