Pomies, Gray Highlight Conference Meet for Cowboys

MANHATTAN, Kan. Â Oklahoma State's sophomore duo of Joseph Gray and David Pomies made a strong showing at this weekend's Big 12 Conference Meet in Manhattan, Kan.
Gray capped the three-day event for the Cowboys with a strong performance in the 3000-meter steeplechase on Sunday. Gray finished with a time of 8:54.19 to finish fifth in the event at Kansas State's RV Christian Track.
Pomies also saved his best for last, finishing ninth in the 1500-meter run finals on Sunday. The sophomore finished with a time of 3:56.81. He got to the finals with an eighth-place finish in the 1500-meter run preliminaries on Friday. Pomies also finished 11th in the 5000-meter run on Sunday. He ran the race with a time of 3:56.81.
Cowboy sophomore Brian Ehlis kicked off the weekend with a 15th-place finish in the 10,000-meter run on Friday. Ehlis finished with a time of 31:27.58 in the race.
On Saturday, junior Justin Nobles finished 17th in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.52. Cowboy sophomores Brian Wall and David Foster also competed in that event. Wall finished with a time of 1:56.94,and Foster finished with a time of 2:03.43.
The sophomore Pomies and junior Sean McCabe followed that event with strong performances in the 1500-meter run. Pomies finished eighth with a time of 3:48.98 and McCabe's time of 3:53.32 was good for 19th place. Cowboy freshmen Brian Gosnell and Matt Barnes-Smith finished 24th and 28th, respectively.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Cowboy sophomore Terry Josserand finished with a time of 54.88 to take 14th place in the event.
On Sunday, it was the sophomore Wall who started things off for the Cowboys. Wall finished 23rd in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.94. David Foster followed him in 25th-place with a time of 2:03.43.
Freshman Alejandro Ruiz followed that with a 23rd-place finish in the 1500-meter run for the Cowboys. Ruiz finished with a time of 4:00.82. He was followed by Barnes-Smith and Brian Gosnell. Gosnell finished with a time of 4:01.74 and Barnes-Smith finished with a time of 4:06.65.
In the 5000-meter run, Pomies' time of 14:36.47 was good for an 11th-place finish. Sean McCabe finished 19th in that event with a time of 14:48.43. In 29th place, it was the freshman Barnes-Smith with a time of 15:04.40. Alejandro Ruiz finished with a time of 15:26.89 and Brian Gosnell finished with a time of 15:54.25.
