Softball Eliminated From Big 12 Tournament

Oklahoma State's softball team was eliminated from the Big 12 Tournament following a 5-1 loss to 18^th-ranked Missouri on Thursday at Hall of Fame Stadium. The Cowgirls drop to 33-22 overall while Missouri improves to 39-12.

Missouri took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Janessa Roenig led off the frame with a single and Heather Kunkel followed with a triple.

Marjorie Johnson held the Tigers in check for the next two innings but surrendered a leadoff walk in the fifth and Jessica Hoppock entered in relief. After forcing a fly ball to center, Hoppock gave up a single and hit the next batter to load the bases. Amanda Renth didn't squander the opportunity, touching Hoppock for her second grand slam of the season to give Mizzou a 5-0 lead.

For the second game in a row, the Cowgirls hit a home run in the final inning but the late heroics did nothing for the outcome. Dominique Van Nortwick hit her second home run of the tournament and her fourth of the season, lacing a solo shot to center in the top of the seventh.

Stephanie Nicholson and Lacy Darity each had a single in the game, accounting for the Cowgirls other two hits against the Tigers.

Oklahoma State must now wait and see if they are selected as part of the 64-team NCAA field. The selection show will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.
