Cowgirls Prepared for Non-Conference Pair

Oklahoma State's women's tennis returns after a week off to host a pair of non-conference opponents in match play over the weekend. The Cowgirls begin with a 2 p.m. match against No. 48 Virginia Commonwealth on Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa.

“We have an opportunity to see where we are after a good week off,” said head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski. “We played very hard last week and received solid performances. Hopefully that will carry over into this weekend's matches.”

The Cowgirls (5-11, 2-5) are coming off a 4-3 loss against then No. 30 Nebraska. Saturday's match against VCU (12-6) will mark the first meeting between the two schools.

OSU will return home to face Boston College (9-6) at the DeBois Tennis Center on Sunday at 10 a.m. The Cowgirls and Eagles have split the schools' previous four meetings.

“We are looking forward to coming back home to play after being on the road for so long,” Lubicz-Majewski said. “We always play better in front of the home crowd and are anxious to play back in Stillwater.”

The match against Boston College marks the first in a five match home stretch that will conclude the 2005 spring regular season.
